A 10 page paper discussing the usefulness of the Jupiter missile in ending the Cuban Missile Crisis. It was removed from service in 1964, but the lessons learned from it contributed significantly to the development of the US space program. It was a symbol of US presence in Italy and Turkey, as well as reflecting the cooperation of those governments with the US military at the time. Fidel Castro, a lawyer who was determined to overthrow Batista's autocracy, was initially the hero in America's eyes but ultimately became the enemy when, after he took political control as Prime Minister, he embraced Communism. The writer discusses the nature of revolutions, Batista and Castro as they relate to the Cuban Revolution. Bibliography lists 25 sources.

The Monroe Doctrine: Beneficial To The World Or Just The United States?
[ send me this report ]
8 pages in length. The Monroe Doctrine stood for many things and addressed many issues, both nationally and worldwide; however, it can be argued that the primary motivation behind President James Monroe's desire to implement his doctrine was as a means by which to protect American interests. The 1823 declaration that announced Monroe's intentions was met with a considerable amount of surprise, being that it was looked upon as a mighty bold step toward American foreign policy.
